Peter McCawley Book Launch

The ANU Indonesia Project and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) for the launch of Pursuing Inclusive Economic Development in Asia, celebrating Peter McCawley’s legacy. The book offers insights on inclusive growth across Asia, featuring case studies and policy analyses from multiple countries.

Pursuing Inclusive Economic Development in Asia, a volume edited by Hal Hill and Daniel Suryadarma, presents 13 chapters on various aspects of inclusive economic growth. Some chapters investigate the role of globalization and foreign direct investment, and several evaluate the impact of public policies. The volume features studies from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, as well as studies with a regional focus. Researchers and policymakers will find insights, lessons, and cautionary tales related to inclusion and economic growth in the region.

The launch was graced by two distinguished figures in Indonesia’s economic and policy landscape, Bambang Brodjonegoro and Mari Pangestu, who formally introduced the volume. Their participation highlighted the importance of the book’s themes to Indonesia and the region more broadly, as both have played key roles in shaping policy directions on development and inclusion.

The event not only celebrated the launch of the book but also paid tribute to Peter McCawley’s enduring contributions to development economics, policy analysis, and capacity building across Asia. It reflected the Indonesia Project’s longstanding commitment to advancing rigorous, policy-relevant research on the region’s most pressing development issues.
