60th Anniversary Gala Dinner Celebration
The ANU Indonesia Project celebrated its 60th anniversary in Jakarta with a Gala Dinner that brought together distinguished guests, alumni, scholars, and long-standing partners to honour six decades of engagement, research, and collaboration on Indonesia. The evening was held at a prestigious venue in Jakarta, offering an elegant setting to reflect on the Project’s impact and future.
The event opened with a video message from Senator Penny Wong, followed by keynote remarks from Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and H.E. Rod Brazier, Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia. Contributions from eminent figures in academia and public policy, including senior alumna Mari Pangestu, Professor Hal Hill, and economist Chatib Basri, highlighted the Project’s enduring role in fostering research, dialogue, and bilateral cooperation.
Cultural performances added a vibrant dimension to the evening. Guests were treated to Tari Ulun Enggang from Kalimantan and Tari Mimika from Papua, both performed by Krida Budaya UI, showcasing Indonesia’s rich and diverse artistic heritage. These performances complemented the celebratory atmosphere and underscored the Project’s commitment to cultural as well as scholarly engagement.
The Jakarta Gala Dinner was a memorable evening of networking, reflection, and celebration, honouring the ANU Indonesia Project’s six decades of contribution to Indonesia-focused scholarship and the strengthening of Australia–Indonesia relations.
